Review: Rimmel London Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara*

I have always been of the opinion that Rimmel mascaras were not for me. I tried a Rimmel London Scandaleyes Curve Alert mascara that I got free in a pack and hated it. It was clumpy, dry and the brush was so difficult to maneourve. I swore that I would never try one.

When the new mascara by Rimmel Rockin’ Curves Mascara* arrived on my doorstep, I scoffed. I am happy with my three fail safe mascaras thank you very much! Alas, as a beauty blogger, we need to set aside preconceptions of a brand or particular line from a brand, in order to let our readers know our preferences :)

What Rimmel London says

Say goodbye to quiet lashes!

Our first broken heart-shaped brush creates a fringe of big, curvy, rockin’ lashes. This cleverly-shaped applicator twists and curves to hug the lash line; the thin tip grabs hard-to-reach inner lashes, while the amplified base pulses lashes with incredible volume and curve. Lashes are plumped and lifted in one clean stroke.

No clumps!

What The Minted Beauty says

I tried the mascara (hesitantly!) with makeup wipes at the ready to remove and go on with my day with Clump Crusher, but I didn’t need them! I am not sure if Rimmel have reformulated their mascara, but this was quite good! It took some time to get used to the brush (I am used to plastic bristles mainly) but after some practice, I have literally been using this every single day (except one day!) since I got it.

The ‘broken heart-shaped’ brush is amazing for lifting outer lashes and grabbing those pesky inner eye lashes that can be ignored on occasion. The fiber brush is something that I would personally like to change (to plastic) because I think it’s cleaner and doesn’t pull as much product out of the tube. I always try and put some of it back in there, or alternatively, quickly wipe it with a tissue (although I would prefer not to waste it!).

I’m iffy about Rimmel mascaras too! I had bad experiences with a couple of them smudging and irritating my eyes so I try to stay away. With that being said, I’m actually addicted to trying new mascaras and I have seen this one being reviewed all the time.. It’s tempting to try! Thanks for the review!

No worries Mel! Hope you get a chance to try this one out. I had some irritation from the Curve Alert mascara the one time I used it as well but I got it in a pack of stuff, so I wasn’t sure if it had just gone bad or something :(

This one sounds pretty decent! not sure if I could get used to the brush haha! I’ve tried one Rimmel mascara - lash accelerator endless - and I actually really like it.

It’s certainly a bigger brush to manoeuvre! Took a bit of practice, but the results are awesome!

I’m a big fan of Rimmel but don’t think I’ve ever tried their mascaras (and I’m a mascara junkie). How is this even possible??? ;)

    • Kate Flint

Get your butt down to a Priceline asap! I think there is a 20% off deal on Rimmel there at the moment too ;)

I’ve only tried one Rimmel mascara which was the lycra flex one which I’m not a big fan of as it’s a very wet formula and I have hooded eyes so I mostly need a more dry formula to stop the smudging. I would love to try this one though, would you say this one is quite wet or not?

    • Kate Flint

This one is quite wet in my opinion, I need to put a lot of product back into the tube to stop it being so wet on my eyes. My favourite ‘dryer’ mascara is Covergirl Clump Crusher :)

Wish I could see a picture of the results! I’m definitely intrigued because I’ve only ever liked one rimmed mascara and it was their plain waterproof one I used to use when I was a teenager because it was so cheap!

I am absolutely rubbish at taking pics of my eyeballs and mascara. I did put one on Instagram a while ago though, here it is :) http://instagram.com/p/oXMXwtgbjR/

Oohh!! I’ve almost used up mine and I actually want to repurchase it. I wrote a blog post on this too and was so surprised that I actually liked it as much as I did. I feel like the brush is so useful to really control the lashes.

I am thinking about repurchasing this too! I am almost out of all my mascaras and I need to re-buy them D: Why does it happen all at once! Xo

I know right?! That always happens to me too. x

I wasn’t a fan of this one but it wasn’t horrible. You know me, I’m a plastic bristle girl all the way haha.

Haha I normally am too Sarah. I still love my Max Factor Clump Defy and Covergirl Girl Clump Crusher <3
