The Autumn Edit - Skin Care & Hair Care

Changing your skin care routine to suit the season is important, as well as your hair care routine. Your body reacts differently to different weather conditions and temperatures, so it’s important to ensure you are ready for the cold months ahead!

I’ve got a mass of products I am excited to try (or have already been using) for Autumn, so let’s start with skin care.

I was interested in getting more acquainted with cleansing oils, so when the Clarins Total Cleansing Oil* (RRP $34.21) landed on my doorstep, I was keen to give it a go! I love using this for taking off my makeup at night time, and it really works at removing oil, dirt and makeup without stripping the skin of it’s natural oils. It contains organic perilla and olive oils, and after massaging into the face and neck, you can add a little water to create an emulsion, and then wipe off with a damp flannel.

From Daiso, I picked up a Collagen Face Mist (RRP $2.80) which I am not sure if it’s great for the skin at this stage, but I am loving anything collagen infused after turning 26. Oy! For only $2.80, it’s worth a try. Maybe spritz it on your arm as a test patch to ensure you don’t have a reaction to it (I get a bit nervous with foreign products sometimes!).

The Alpha-H Liquid Gold (RRP $59.95 - 100mL) is a long time favourite of mine (more info here) and I just finished up my last bottle! I received this one in the Obsession goodie bag (blog post here) and thank goodness it’s back in my life! I love chemical exfoliants in the cooler months, as I feel in Summer my skin can hack a stronger physical exfoliation.

Again, another Collagen infused product is making the list. What can I say? I cringe at the thought of botox (that’s Botulism. In your face? Not for me), but these non-invasive, collagen infusing products seem much safer, and less painful to boot! The John Plunkett Collagen Lift Moisturiser(RRP $19.95 15mL) will help plump and smooth wrinkles without turning your face into a grease pot. This is another goodie from the Obsession 2015 goodie bag.

A face serum I am interested in using more (I’ve used one of each capsule at the time of writing this post) is the Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules* (RRP $185) which help repair skin and improve elasticity. The pink capsules (rose) are for morning time to stimulate micro-circulation and vitality. The green capsules (lavender) are for night to repair skin and encourage a peaceful night’s sleep.

An important skin step that I am guilty for skipping is eye cream. With Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream(RRP $46) it’s slowly starting to become less of a chore! The cream absorbs into the skin and fades dark circles, as well as reduces puffiness. Both of these products were again, included in the Obsession 2015 goodie bag.

Skin care doesn’t stop at your neck. I’m trying to be very conscious of looking after my body’s skin in my old age (ho-ho) and trying to ensure that I don’t look like a wrinkled old prune at 30. I have never been one to fuss over feet, but the NS-8 Heel Balm Complex (RRP $3.99) has been working a treat on my thickened skin on the heels and balls of my feet. I pop this on before bed and it is slowly working towards me not having giraffe hooves as feet, huzzah!

The Enbacci Dry Touch Moisturising Smooth Finish Hand & Nail Cream* (RRP $23)  is fast becoming my favourite hand cream, right up there next to L’Occitaine En Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream (review here). They say that the first signs of ageing appears on your hands, so I have been ensuring that I take a little extra care.

A new product that I have been loving for everything is the Trilogy Everything Balm* (RRP $18.95). Perfect for chapped lips, cuticle care, massage oil and even for safe for kiddies.

For hair care, there are a few products that I will be frequently using this Fall. LUSH Retread (RRP $24.95) is a hair conditioner that I use twice a week for a little extra nourishment. This one can be used daily for those with thicker hair, but I find it I use it daily it tends to weigh my hair down some. Check out this post for more info!

A newbie in my collection is the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil for Hair* (RRP $19.99) which is a nourishing oil treatment designed to replenish lipids, soften and shine. My hair has been looking quite dull of late (in need of a refreshing dye, as the bleach underneath is starting to fade in), so I am hoping that this will help my hair along before I trot off to the hair dressers.

The Kerastase Resistance Fibre Architecte* has been on rotation for some time but it’s definitely something I will think about repurchasing after or during my travels. This serum has helped heal my ends (although not to their former glory, and they do need a good cut!). You can read more about this product here.

Something to consider when selecting new seasonal products is to search for  online deals. Although for me personally, my town doesn’t stock the products I love purchasing, and often it takes months for stock to be replenished. For me, online shopping is sometimes a better shopping experience that a real one. Shopping online also gives you a range of discounts available that you might never encounter in regular store sales. When shopping for skin care, hair care, and even makeup in some cases, it’s difficult to test out the product in a regular store anyway.

Is your skin care and hair care routines up to snuff for Autumn?

It’s been my first time trying out Liquid Gold and golly, it is good!! I’m trying not to use it too often though, because I watched a video on Caroline Hirons’ channel about how to use it and they said 3 times a week for over 20s :/ So I’m limiting myself to once/twice a week haha! I’ve finished my whole tub of the Elemis capsules haha. I liked how moisturising they were, but I’m not sure about how heavily fragranced they are. And yay for cleansing oils! The Clarins one sounds lovely

I am the same with the Liquid Gold, only three times a week for me I am about halfway through the capsules but they are so cute and fun to use that I don’t want to use them up haha.
