It’s been a little while since I indulged in a beauty subscription box, and when Bellabox* offered me a once-off August box, I jumped at the chance! I have missed that little box peeking out from my mail box, saying “What’s inside me? Why some lovely, surprise beauty gifts just for you!”
If you aren’t familiar with Bellabox, you basically sign up to receive a box every month containing at least 5 samples relating to beauty & lifestyle. In my experience, some boxes are ‘better’ than others but it’s really just luck of the draw, and what you are into. They can’t please everyone.
Which brings me to the August box. I watched reviews of a couple and saw such a variation in products. There are boxes that I think would have been more suited to my needs, but at the end of the day, still a decent box with some products that I am excited to try out! The only thing I am confused about is the theme (yet again). This month’s theme was Sport Up Your Style, but I am having trouble trying to see the connection here…
One of the box’s items that I am super excited to try out is Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream with Royal Jelly (RRP $39.95 57g). I’ve heard a lot about the anti-aging benefits of Royal Jelly, as it encourages collagen production in the skin. The scent of this moisturiser is fantastic, a light but musky scent of Wild Cherry bark gives it an interesting edge.
Another skin saviour Skinlite Relaxing & Calming Lavender Mask (RRP $3.99), is enriched with Lavender extract, Collagen and Vitamin E. I haven’t heard of this brand before, but I am pretty interested in learning more! Sheet masks are one of my favourites to use, and I certainly don’t treat myself with them enough!
The entire collection of the IVI Organic Illuminating skincare range, including Revitalising Cream Cleanser (RRP $72.00 130mL), Balancing Gel Cleanser (RRP $72.00 130mL), Facial Serum (RRP $92.00 30mL) and Brightening Hydrator (RRP $82.00 50mL). This is an Australian organic brand that boasts a number of vitamins and extracts. Some of these samples are suited to dry skin, and others to oily, so I will probably give a couple of these away to friends and family.
Something not so exciting, an Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (RRP $8.99 354mL). I feel like they always toss these in and I’ve never had to buy any Aveeno products because I am always swimming in samples. This one is being given away I think.
Another red lipstick to try (although it looks like it got a wee bit damaged in transit) is Australis Beauty Fix Lipstick. I am unable to find this on the internet for a retail price, so I have the feeling this one is discontinued (which is a little disappointing). The colour still looks great, a fire engine red.Lastly, Australis Lip & Cheek Combo in Flamingo Skies (RRP $10.95), is something I am happy to see included. This would actually fit into the gym section, and will be added to my gym bag as an easy way to look presentable after a workout. Woo!
Are you still loving subscription boxes? Do you find them as exciting as a year ago?
