Current Hair Routine - Brunette Hair

Hey guys! Since I’ve dyed my hair brown I’ve had to drastically change my hair routine up from my regular bleached hair routine, so I thought I would share some of the products I’ve been using! Now, to give you a TL;DR, I have super oily hair and an ‘over-active scalp’, but with comparable dryer ends. This is mainly due to the bleaching underneath my brown hair dye (and also I am really due for a haircut!!). I was sent some Kerastase products for consideration and I am loving all of them. Opinions remain my own, scout’s honour.

In the past I have used the Kerastase Nectar Thermique range which did wonders for my hair and heat protection. I did have to use it sparingly to avoid my hair getting too over-hydrated. Kerastase is can reveal your natural beauty with a personalised haircare program specifically targeted towards your needs. For shampoo, I’ve been loving the Kerastase Bain Vital Dermo-Calm* (RRP $34.00) which is a hypoallergenic cleansing, soothing shampoo. I love the super clean scent and I’ve noticed quite a difference in my scalp health. It’s a lot less oily and more balanced than usual. My hair feels a lot lighter and bouncier than normal as well, which I am putting down to this shampoo.

For conditioner, I’ve been using the TRESemmé Platinum Strength Conditioner (RRP $9.99) and I’ve fallen in love. With my fine hair (but lots of it) it can be difficult to find a conditioner that successfully detangles as well as not weighing down the hair. In the past I have used the Reverse Hair Washing Technique, but on dying my hair a darker colour, I have found that it really doesn’t work well. It made my hair wiry and unmanageable (unlike my bleached blonde hair where it worked a treat!). This conditioner is really loving my hair, it doesn’t have that weighed down look to it after my hair dries and has a great scent (and cheap as chips to boot!).

For hair masks, I have been alternating between my Morroccan Oil Hair Mask* (RRP $74.40) (review here) every couple of weeks, and the Kerastase Sensitdote Dermo-Calm Soothing Calming Masque* (RRP $60.00) every other couple of weeks. The difference being, while the Morroccan Oil Hair Mask is a protein treatment for repairing ends (RIP split ends), the Kerastase Dermo-Calm Masque is for soothing your scalp. This isn’t the first time I’ve tried a scalp mask (LUSH Roots is a favourite of mine) and it’s quite calming to have a mask on your hair/scalp. I like rubbing this into my roots and wrapping my hair in a microfibre towel to really soak it in (while lying in the bath of course). I am one to get quite an itchy scalp on occassion, and this really calms down the skin and gives it a little extra TLC.

Similarly, the Kerastase Dermo-Calm Serum* is a serum for the scalp and it’s so luxurious to put in! I have been putting a couple of drops after each time I wash my hair directly onto my scalp and massaging through. The great part about these scalp products is there is little-to-no product build up at all! It just magically soaks into the scalp or roots without making it a greasy mess! Definitely worth mentioning for those of us (*raises hand*) with crazy oily scalps :)

Another treatment I have been using on occassion is the Kerastase Force Fibre Architecte* (RRP $73.00) which is an ends treatment to help build up brittle and damaged hair (re: bleaching for me). I have noticed a bit of improvement, but I do think that I just need to lop off about 3 cm of my hair, it’s just too far gone, and no treatment will stop it :( I am definitely loving this one though, especially how it has two separate liquids that are pumped out at the same time, to make a fusion of treatment. Pretty cool :)

Last, but not least, is the Kerastase Chroma Thermique(RRP $58.50) which has a milky consistency, and is applied onto the hair before heat styling. This has made my hair look super glossy and shiny without looking piece-y or greasy. Amazing, yet again. This, along with the shampoo, are probably the two products that I will definitely be repurchasing. I just can’t imagine my life without them now!
