I can’t believe that the first month of 2014 is over! Only eleven more months to go before I make the biggest move of my life! MEEP! Here are the latest things I’ve been loving in January. Some of the products featured are new (mainly gifts - trying to cut down on spending as per usual!) and some have been in my collection a while. I’ve included links where I can

This was my only purchase for the month and in my opinion, well worth it. Check out my latest video on how I get the perfect red lip to see it in action! Like the other lacquers in the Apocalips range, it is long lasting, pigmented and super shiny. The colour of this one is a blue-toned red, which previously wasn’t available in Australia (Stellar is an warm-toned red).
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara - RRP $17.95 *received as gift
I recently spoke about the Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara in my Top 3 Marvelous Mascaras post. It could be my new favourite mascara (Sorry MaxFactor Clump Defy, you still special gurl!) They are pretty much a very similar product, but Covergirl has a slightly more manageable wand, and is $7 cheaper than MF.
Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk - RRP $9.95 *received as gift
The coveted Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk has been so difficult to find in Australia. When a friend from reddit sent me one as a ‘filler gift’ I was overjoyed! It works better than my other cream eye shadows (mainly Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded) and really makes eye shadows pop. I’ll be using this one a lot this year I think.
Rimmel London Professional Brow Pencil in Hazel 004 - RRP $8.50
I’ve long been using brow powders and occasionally mixing the powder with wax, but in the warmer months, I’ve found that this brow pencil has been amazing (even though it looks a bit sad to look at!). It sticks to my face and doesn’t budge throughout the day. I may even continue using it in cooler months as the outline, because it really gives a cleaner finish than brow powder alone. The price is great too, and it’s available in most pharmacies/drugstores.
I received this from my sister Megan after she decided she didn’t like it. She originally bought it off Amazon because it’s Elle Fowler’s all time favourite perfume. It’s a great musky scent and has a slight sweetness to it, but it’s definitely not the fruity summery perfume that you will get a whiff of as a pack of teens walk past. This is one of my more ‘grown-up’ scents, and one of my partner’s favourites as well!
L’Occotaine Hand Cream - RRP $39
I received this sample in a subscription box a while ago and it’s one of the best hand creams I’ve ever used - HANDS DOWN (hihi). It smells a little like baby powder, but mainly a clean scent that lingers just a little on your hands after applying. I will be doing a review on this one shortly, so keep your eyes peeled.
Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua Foundation - RRP $77
I’ve been using this foundation after finding it in my first Shop My Stash post, and I have fallen in love with it all over again. I always feel a little bad using it everyday because it’s so blooming expensive. But, as you well know, I am trying to use up all my existing products, so why not treat myself amirite?
Bioderma Crealine H20 Cleansing Water - RRP $29.95
I originally purchased my first Bioderma bottle in November 2012, and freaking loved it! I wasn’t able to get a refill bottle for the last six months or so, so when I finally was able to get one from Priceline, I was overjoyed! I can really see the benefits that this product has for my skin. New acne is not popping up as often (what a poor choice of words…) and I can see my deep scarring started to go down again. Happy happy days.
Kate Somerville EradiKate - RRP $22.00
I got the Kate Somerville EradiKate acne treatment in the Blemish Banisher (review soon!) pack from Mecca Cosmetica, and I have really seen results with this! It is very potent but seriously dries out the pimple faster than I’ve ever seen!
Felix & Klaus (and Anakin of course!)
After the sudden passing of Kramer in December, our little family had a hole that needed to be filled (not to mention Anakin was getting quite depressed) so we bought two new little poppets to join our household. Anakin and Klaus have been thick as thieves, while Felix prefers alone time adventuring or snuggling with his humans Check out my Rat Tales post if you want to see some cute pics and videos!
My latest fad has been learning German, and Duolingo is an awesome (free!) language program that is available online! It encourages usage by showing your ‘streak’ (so you don’t miss a day of learning). It certainly makes learning a new language a lot less daunting, and have found that I am picking it up pretty quickly! Wunderbar! You can learn German, French, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian!
What have been your favourites for January 2014?
