Review: Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kiss Proof Lips

Back in 2013, Rimmel London brought on the apocalypse and erupted the beauty world into talks of…Apocalips. Now, in 2014 comes their longer lasting, demi-matte finish sexy sister Provocalips. Boasting 16 hours of kiss-proof colour, this dual ended lip cream gives you intense colour on one end, and locks it in and adds shine with the other end.

From left to right: Play with Fire, Kiss Me You Fool, Kiss Fatal, Little Minx, Skinny Dipping, Make Your Move, I’ll Call You and Dare to Pink.

The Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kiss Proof Colour* (RRP $17.95) is crazy pigmented, and is super easy to apply. In comparison to the Rimmel London Apocalips range, they are a little less liquid-y and sets onto your lips to create a demi-matte finish. The range of colours available is pretty similar to the range for Apocalips, but they’ve added an awesome purple colour (hells to the yeah! Aussies missed out on the purple lip Galaxy in the Apocalips collection) and they’ve left out the red-orange ‘Stellar’ colour.

All of these lip swatches were taken before the lip colour ‘set’, as to avoid the massive amount of pain it would be to apply and remove eight matte lip colours (I’ve done it before with the Australis Matte Lip Creams and my lips hated me for days!).

Play with Fire. A dark, blue based red. Similar in colour to MAC Russian Red or Rimmel London Apocalips Big Bang.

Kiss Me You Fool. A warm red, with orange undertones. Similar in colour to MAC Lady Danger.

Kiss Fatal. A pinked purple/plum. Similar to (though not as opaque) as MAC Seasoned Plum.

Little Minx. A bright, fuschia pink. Similar to Rimmel London Apocalips in Apocalips.

Skinny Dipping. A brown based nude. Similar to Rimmel London Apocalips in Nude Eclipse, but a little more brown toned.

Make Your Move. A brown toned rose. Similar to Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Light Rise.

I’ll Call You. Medium pink. Similar to Rimmel London Apocalips in Nova.

Dare to Pink. A pale pink based nude. Similar to Rimmel London Apocalips in Phenomenon.

Have you tried any of the Provocalips Collection?

I’ve heard that these last amazingly, but are also really hard to remove! They sound pretty great though, considering I hate the Apocalips for their wetness!

They are pretty easy to remove, you just need to use some oil-free makeup remover. Bioderma won’t budge it, and neither will makeup wipes. Learnt that the hard way hahah :P

These look really fab - what a great range of colours!

Little Minx is very gorgeous! It’s so difficult to choose a favourite in this collection!!

  • Style On The Side

The colours are fantastic and it has to be said that your lips are perfect for showing them off!

Aww thank you lovely! I think I have found my wedding lipstick in these! My partner is dead against anything that leaves a mark, and these really are “kiss proof”!

I’m going to get some of these in the Priceline. Great swatches =)

    • Kate Flint

Definitely! Great timing with 40% off makeup coming up next Tuesday/Wednesday!! ☺️

I wonder if these are similar to the L’Oreal Infallible two step lipsticks (which sadly didn’t do it for me as the second step goes all ‘manky’ on me)
I love the look of Kiss Fatal and Make Your Move. Will need to check them out I think :)

    • Kate Flint

A very similar idea by L’Oreal. I think Revlon have the same as well :) I find the trick is to really let your colour set and dry completely before adding the clear gloss. Mine tend to go a little weird if you apply too quickly :)

I think Kiss Fatale has to be a favourite of mine (don’t tell the others) purely because I am a plum lip girl through and through :)

I’ve heard so many great things about these! I hope they bring them to Canada, I’d love to purchase some!

I hope they do for you as well! You could always see if the UK could ship them over to you there (Australia might be more expensive)?
