Six Steps to Spring Ready

Hey guys! I’ve been ‘hibernating’ a little from the beauty and fashion world (well for four days or so) simply because I am on a spending ban, and I don’t want to be tempted! It’s really difficult to see all the wonderful things I could have. So, for the moment, I have been trying to steer clear of getting to ‘involved’. As an alternative to spending I have instead been playing The Sims 3 instead, so I can ‘spend’ on my Sims! #nerd. I know. I don’t care :P I am doing a Legacy Challenge which is keeping me busy in my spare time.

Seeing as the first week of Spring is already gone, I thought I would share how I get my body and face Spring Ready! It’s a great time of year to preen, primp and generally get excited about showing a little skin. Here are routines that I have been doing to get excited about the season!

1. Exfoliate

It’s the time to slough off those dead skin cells that have been slowly creeping on your body. I’ve been using The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub. It’s not too harsh on sensitive skin and has an amazing fresh scent that is absolutely perfect for the season! I also use Buffy by LUSH year round, so this doesn’t change :)

2. Hair Removal

There is a LOT of hair removal that needs to be done (for me anyway) once Spring rolls around. I shave my legs often, and underarms. But one thing I don’t do until the warmer months is wax my arms. This is NOT something for everyone, but I have quite dark hair on my arms, and like to get rid of it come Spring & Summer. I give them a break over the cooler periods. It does not make the hair thicker, blacker or spiky at all. It actually helps reduce the amount of hair that grows and they grow back fluffy. I use Veet Wax Strips every six weeks or so to remove the hair.

3. Review your Makeup Routine

It’s time to swap out your foundation, BB Creams and powders to make sure that the formulas suit the weather! Spring is still cool, but it is a great time to transition away from full coverage matte foundations, and opt for lighter, dewier finishes. You can also bust out the illuminator, bronzer and high gloss lipsticks with gusto. My favourites lately have been Revlon PhotoReady Skin Finish Illuminator in Pink Rose, NARS Laguna Bronzer and Benefit Dandelion Lip Gloss.

4. Bust out a Floral Scent

Nothing screams Spring like a light, floral scent. My favourite for Spring this year is Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh for daytime and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre for night time. Both a fantastic floral scents that really lighten the mood and make you feel alive and ready for the season!

5. Fake Tan

By adding a little bit of colour to your body, it not only makes you appear bronzer and like you’ve been holidaying in a tropical paradise, but it also has a slimming effect! This is great for me considering Winter for me has consisted of being snuggled up away from all the Vitamin D! This is also loads healthier than an actual tan, which may help you match your leather bag later in life! I recently received St Tropez Bronzing Mousse in the July Violet Box, and I have found it to be the best. I would even prefer this tanner to getting a professional tan! (I find some beautician’s can be a little heavy handed for my taste!)

6. Mani Pedi

The last step to getting your look Spring ready is to paint on some beautiful spring colours onto your pointers and piggies! Check out my last post on Top 5 Spring Nail Polishes for an idea of what I will be wearing this Spring! *Hint: Lots of pastels and brights!

I hope you enjoyed my Six Steps to Spring Ready Routine! What do you do to get ready for the warmer months?

Stay Minty!

Spring Fling

I am feeling pretty excited about the upcoming season if you haven’t already guessed. I thought I would put together a little collection of things I am excited about this Spring!!

P1090742

EOS Lip Balm Strawberry Sorbet is my go to lip balm for most seasons. However, this lip balm is truly a Spring product in my eyes. The pastel colour of the container, the smoothness and fruitiness of the balm, and also the ease that you can swipe it on and forget about it, all screams spring. I wish they could invent smell-o-net so you could smell how good this is!

I featured this nail polish, OPI A Grape Fit in the previous post, but I couldn’t resist adding it to this collection. It’s such an amazing colour and the formula is just UGH utterly perfect. If I could recommend ONE nail polish from OPI it would probably be this one. It’s very wearable and just..ugh. The fact that this polish made me ‘ugh’ twice is probably enough to realise that I am in love with it.

My favourite Spring scent is Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs. It’s very similar to Daisy (obv.) but it’s just that bit lighter and fresher. I actually prefer it to Daisy *ducks from flying shoes of readers*. The bottle is also perfect for Spring to put on your vanity. It’s like having a vase of fresh flowers every day!

With the weather warming up, it means that feet are coming out of boots and closed in shoes. That means you need to transform your hooves into something less terrifying (if you are anything like me). I will be using this Bloom Peppermint Foot Balm to nourish and soothe my feet and blisters from all those crampy boots. The scent is super fresh and it really feels relaxing to rub your tootsies with this!

New from the Lust Have It Box in August is the Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights Face Illuminator in Pink Rose. It has a similar colour and consistency to Benefit High Beam, without the price tag! I’ve used this a couple of times and I think it is definitely going to become my new highlighter when I run out of High Beam.

P1090754

I have been using Benefit ‘Feelin’ Dandy’ Kit for a while now (see here for a review) and it will continue to be used in full swing with Spring. All products in here are perfect for a soft, romantic look this season.

I am not normally a lip gloss girl but this one may have changed my mind! The L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Glossy Stain in Lolita is the perfect pinky-nude lip with just the right amount of shine for a cool Spring day. I really love the applicator on this because it’s a big bigger (and if you’ve seen my lips, you’ll know why I prefer this!)

I am also keen to get back into baking! I love making sugary treats and this book of desserts has an entire section just on chocolate decadency. Lordy lord have mercy!

Dot by Marc Jacobs | The Forgotten Scent

Over the last week or two I’ve been seeing Beauty Bloggers receive the latest (and greatest?) perfume by Marc Jacobs - Honey.  I haven’t yet smelt Honey, and I am hoping it is featured in a future beauty box. However, while others have been busy lusting after the new scent by Marc Jacobs, I find myself concerned about the forgotten baby sister perfume.

Has everyone forgotten about poor old Dot?

Dot by Marc Jacobs was released in August 2012. I received a sample of it in one of my previous Lust Have It boxes, and I was smitten! I savoured every last drop from the sample. Once I had used it up, I decided that I would need to use a few more of my other full size perfumes before I buy a new one. After finishing them up, I was able to splurge on the Eau De Parfum of Dot by Marc Jacobs.
