Macabre Monday #1 | The Conjuring

I thought I would start with something not so scary for my first post on Macabre Monday. A nice simple movie. What’s so scary about a movie, right? RIGHT?

Well the movie I am talking about today is The Conjuring. To give you an idea of how thrilling and spooky this movie was, take a look at this warning sign that was placed outside American theatres to warn viewers.

Yuuup. This pretty much sums up my experience! Although I didn’t go get myself blessed by a priest, I certainly took some care and peeked around corners for a few good days.

If you haven’t seen (or even heard) of The Conjuring, let me fill you in on one of the best supernatural movies of 2013. Seems pretty basic for a ghost story. Husband and wife team of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their home. I won’t give any more of the movie away, because I think the best kinds of movies have the least amount of information given about them. However, to tantalise you, here is a trailer I pulled from YouTube.

The scariest thing for me about this movie is that, it’s real. I’m not talking “Ehrmagerd  Blair Witch Project, this is totally rearl.” I am talking absolutely, based on true events, real. Of course, I am sure that it’s not word for word, and some events were obviously dramatised.

But, Ed and Lorraine Warren are actual paranormal investigators that have investigated over 10,000 paranormal cases in the 20th Century. Ed, who passed away in 2006, and Lorraine had their own Occult Museum with many alleged possessed artifacts. I dare you to watch the following actual footage from Ed and Lorraine’s files. I’m sorry in advance!

I find the whole story of Ed and Lorraine Warren very fascinating. Were they legit paranormal investigators? Did they really help thousands of families and individuals across America overcome the presences that thrived in their homes? Or were they frauds out to make a quick buck. For all our sakes, I reaaaally hope it was the latter.

I hope you enjoyed the first Macabre Monday post! Let me know what you thought!
